Wildlife at Bushwhacker

At one time all of Southwestern Vernon County was prairie. The major wildlife species were bison, deer, coyotes and jackrabbits.

This vintage Post Card shows Jackrabbits.

Of course, the bison and jackrabbits are gone, but there are still lots of deer and other wildlife:

But the most important species at Bushwhacker is the Prairie Chicken. Once plentiful, Prairie Chicken numbers have been declining for several years. Follow this link to visit my Prairie Chicken page.
