The Missouri Department of Conservation has tried to manage the wildlife area for the Prairie Chickens. Here are some pictures taken on the prairie several years ago.

Look closely and you will see a prairie chicken nest.

In the mid 1990's the Department of Conservation asked surrounding landowners to clear trees from their land. The picture below shows one of our family farms which now resembles the early prairie landscape.
