This tells us that the family had come to Moundville at least by 1879. It is notable that Clara died December 4, 1879 and her mother, Sarah died December 23, 1897.

The 1900 census shows Meredith as a widower living with his daughter and son-in-law, James and Minnie Harkrader at Moundville.

The flat grave marker, upper left, appears to be a replacement stone and is for Meredith Pointer. The dates are 1830 - 1919. Nancy Thompson sent this correction, The gravestone for M. Pointer has an incorrect year of death. Death certificate says 1918 (not 1919). Death certificate is indexed Meridth Pointer. That would be an expected mistake with a gravestone being placed several years later -- all they could probably remember was that he died that winter.

The death certificate tells that Meredith died November 30, 1918. The informant was Lee Ramsay, but it does not give much information.

The grave marker for Clara E. Pointer who had died December 4, 1879 at the age of 7 years, 5 months and 27 days.
