Many Whitworths were early among Moundville residents. This was a very large family and today there are many Whitworth descendants.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Whitworth are buried at Beckmon Cemetery - a deserted cemetery located 3 miles west and one mile south of Moundville. Mrs. Elizabeth Beckmon Whitworth died December 30, 1904 at her home. Mrs. Whitworth had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church for many years. Her husband was born in 1839, and died the year before his wife. |

Jake was the fourth and youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Whitworth. Ida was the daughter of widow Martha Jane McCracken Yarbrough from Greensboro, NC who married John O. Couch of Bronaugh. Note: Sometimes Ida is referred to as Ida Couch rather than Ida Yarbrough. |
Jake Whitworth and Ida Yarbrough were married in 1903. He had been born in 1882 and she in 1884. They are buried at Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. Photo from Staci Couch. |

Samuel Allen Whitworth and Miss Grace Hendricks were licensed to marry by Recorder Harvey. Al was a son of James W. and Elizabeth Beckman Whitworth. |
