  • This family was torn apart by the death of the parents within a few days of each other from the "Flu". My great grandfather added a year to his age so that he could go down into the mines to work. He was only 7 years old and therefore did not know much about his family history. He and his brother, Henry Clay Addison [Henry was only 10 years old and also went down in the mines to work] remained close enough over their lives to visit one another and name sons after each other. Both of these boys married in Vernon County, Missouri.
