Bronaugh WCTU Ladies

Bronaugh Women probably on the front porch of the Bronaugh Hotel (thats our best guess anyway). So far all identified were Methodist. Also, Betty Doores Nelson suggests that this group is probably the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The WCTU was an early organization in Moundville and Bronaugh that was anti - drink and the identified ladies are all ones known to be active in that organization. Because WCTU makes so much sense, I'm labelling this photograph that way. If someone proves that its NOT the WCTU, I can change it. I also wonder if it might have been taken when the Modern Woodman picture was taken on the same porch. The photo came via Nancy Thompson from Marvilyn Shearburn Williams out of her mother's things (Erma Thompson Shearburn).

Below are close-ups of the ladies for identification purposes.

middle - We thought this might be Myrtle Starr Doores, however, Betty Doores Nelson doesn't think so.

left - We thought this was Sallie Doores. Betty Doores Nelson says that Sallie was very short and its strange that all of the ladies were the same height, so there is no good point of comparison. So, we just aren't sure on this one.

middle - Winifred Jones (Ward) from Moundville (Lyndon's best guess)
