Bronaugh - The Town, The Man and his Friends

This 300 page book is now available. It took longer than I expected to finish, but this will probably be the definitive history on this small Vernon County town. Carefully researched, it contains plenty of stories of the early days before Bronaugh was founded, its founding in 1886 and continues up to 1910. There is about 50 pages on W. C. Bronaugh, the town's namesake, and his sometimes notorious friends. Click on the cover for ordering information.

In 1904, there was a head-on collision of two Missouri Pacific trains. One of them was a west bound passenger train packed with excited people on their way to visit the World's Fair in St. Louis. In the wreck, which occurred near Warrensburg, Missouri, 30 people were killed. They were from small Kansas and Missouri towns. This 150 page book gives all the details of the tragedy.
